Join us as we return to the origins of the Douro Granfondo!

Portugal's largest and most breathtaking granfondo returns on 10 May 2026. Starting in Peso da Régua, the route will take participants through the municipalities of Sabrosa, Alijó, Carrazeda de Ansiães, São João da Pesqueira, Tabuaço and Armamar, extending through the districts of Vila Real, Bragança and Viseu.

This great challenge combines the stunning landscapes of the Alto Douro Wine Region with the pleasure of cycling through tranquil and harmonious surroundings. Participants must therefore find their own pace, as the distances and routes are fixed. The granfondo route is 151 km long. The Mediofondo offers 114 km of excitement, while the Minifondo provides a 60 km adventure. Now in its 11^(th) edition, this route marks a return to the origins of the Douro Granfondo, given its similarities with the inaugural race in 2015.

The climbs to Favaios, Parambos, São João da Pesqueira and Tabuaço are the highlights of the 'queen' distance of this Douro Granfondo. However, it is on the return to the challenging Muro do Cadão climb (3.1 km at 10.2%) that participants will be put to the test physically. However, the effort will be much less when passing through São Mamede de Riba Tua and Linhares, with their fast descents preceding the crossing of the Tua and Valeira dams, respectively. No less fascinating, and already en route to the finish line, the descent from Tabuaço to the mouth of the Tedo offers magnificent views of the Douro.

This is the only difficulty that participants in the Minifondo will encounter in this edition. After leaving the iconic EN 222, they will climb Barcos on the left bank of the Tedo before descending on the right. The Mediofondo follows the Granfondo route to Favaios, but then turns towards Sanfins do Douro. It continues through Sabrosa and Provesende, reaching Pinhão again before heading for Tabuaço.
