Viana Granfondo
Regulations | VIANA Granfondo 2027 Art. 1 – The Viana Granfondo 2027 is an Open Event, with an amateur competitive character, organised by Bikeservice, and held in accordance with the Regulations of the Portuguese Cycling Federation and these present regulations, adhering to the respective rules as well as the Highway Code regulations.
Participation is limited to two-wheeled vehicles (road bike, mountain bike, or tandem); motorised vehicles or e-bikes are not permitted.
The use of an approved cycling helmet is mandatory.
Failure to comply with this rule will result in immediate disqualification from the event.
Art. 2 – Date/Distances
The 5th edition of the VIANA Granfondo 2027 will start at 9:00 am on Sunday, 14 March, in Viana do Castelo (Av. de Figueiredo - Praia Norte), finishing in the same location.
The START BOXES will open at 8:00 am; the finish line control closes at 4:00 pm.
The start features approximately 2 km of controlled riding before open racing begins.
Art. 3 – The VIANA Granfondo will have a distance of 130 km for the Granfondo route. There will also be two shorter distances: the Mediofondo, covering 80 km, and the Minifondo, covering 60 km. For all distances, the use of a duly approved helmet is mandatory.
Art. 4 – Participation/Registration
The event will have a limit of 1,500 participants across all three distances combined, who must register via the VIANA GRANFONDO website (www.bikeservice.pt) or at the Bikeservice headquarters in Póvoa de Varzim.
Art. 5 – Payment for registration can be made via MB reference (validity period of 72 hours). Once payment has been made, in the event of cancellation up to 14 February, the participant may receive a 50% refund of the registration fee.
After this date, the registration is considered final.
Art. 6 – After 28 February, transfer of registration ownership or changing to another Granfondo organised by Bikeservice is permitted upon payment of an administrative fee of €5.
Art. 6.1 – The applied administrative fee does not include a new personalised race number in the case of ownership transfer after 28 February.
Art. 6.2 – The misuse of the race number — such as, for example, transferring it without changing ownership — releases the organisation and its contracted insurance from any responsibility for any accident, damage, and/or injury that the unauthorised participant may cause or suffer.
Art. 7 – Participation is only permitted for individuals aged 15 and over, entirely at the participants' own risk and responsibility.
At the time of registration, participants must be physically and medically fit for the event.
For participants aged between 15 and 16 (cadets), completing the shortest route is mandatory.
Junior category athletes (aged 17 and 18) are excluded from participating in the longest distance.
To enter the longest distance, participants must turn at least 19 years old by the end of 2027.
Art. 8 – Registration fee:

All foreign participants are considered NON-FEDERATED.
The registration fee, until 12 March, will be €44 exclusively for members federated with the Portuguese Cycling Federation.
It is MANDATORY to enter the federated licence number during registration.
In the event of an accident, the federated participant must claim through the federation's insurance.
For non-federated participants, the fee is €48.
The only valid insurance policies for participating in the event are personal accident and public liability insurance provided with a cycling licence issued by the Portuguese Cycling Federation, or insurance contracted by the organisation for this purpose (personal insurance policies, insurance from the Portuguese Association of Cycle Tourism, Portuguese Triathlon Federation, or any other Sports Federation are not valid).
Registration will only be considered valid upon payment, within the established deadline and through the payment methods provided at the end of the registration process.
The invoice for event registration will be issued according to the details provided in the registration form.

It is mandatory to fit the front number plate containing the chip onto the handlebars. The organisation is not responsible for missing results due to incorrect positioning of the chip.
