Ourém-Fátima is the latest and most eagerly awaited granfondo.

A major pilgrimage destination, the region is also home to a thriving cycling community, as evidenced by its warm welcome to the Tour of Portugal, the Tour of Spain and, most recently, the National Road Cycling and Para-cycling Championships. With the continued support of the municipality, the debut of the Ourém-Fátima Granfondo is scheduled for 18 October 2026.

As the final race of the season, the city will also host the crowning of the Superprestígio Trophy winners, the largest amateur cycling competition in Portugal. Awards will be given to the male and female athletes who score the highest number of points in their registered distance: minifondo, mediofondo or granfondo.

The routes, which are relatively flat, will guide participants through some of the region's many points of interest, where the rich landscape and biodiversity stand out. As well as passing through Fátima, a world-renowned Marian pilgrimage site, participants will visit Agroal (famous for its river beach), Freixianda (which was severely punished during the French invasions), Pêras Ruivas (home to the Seiça river, where a rare species of stream lamprey lives) and the legendary Medieval Castle of Ourém, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country.

The Ourém-Fátima Granfondo is therefore an event not to be missed. The minifondo option covers 68 km, while the mediofondo and granfondo cover 101 km and 137 km respectively.
