The EuroBEC Granfondo is not to be missed!

After 2023, we will return to Badajoz in 2026 to launch the second series of the EuroBEC Granfondo. 'Protected' by Europe's largest fortress, which was initially constructed in 875 and is located in the highest part of the city, participants will have the opportunity to discover some of the landscapes that characterise the border region of Badajoz so well.

As part of this unique initiative, the multicoloured 'snake' that welcomed 1,800 participants in the previous edition will also visit the municipalities of Elvas and Campo Maior, which are both just 20 km from Badajoz. The EuroBEC Granfondo is therefore one of the sporting events not to be missed in 2026.

For the first time, more than half of the granfondo distance (140 km) will be covered in Spanish territory. Participants will pass through the historic and controversial town of Olivenza, as well as São Domingos de Gusmão, Talega, Valverde de Leganés and São Rafael de Olivenza, and will be able to enjoy the excellent cycling conditions and beautiful landscapes along the route.

Participants in the Mediofondo and Minifondo – 105 km and 77 km respectively – will also have the opportunity to experience the blend of Spanish and Portuguese traditions along their respective routes. A distinctive feature of the EuroBEC Granfondo is that the routes are practically flat with few major difficulties, enabling anyone accustomed to cycling to participate.

We look forward to seeing you on 12 April 2016 to revisit history, reconnect with friends and, above all, enjoy an adventure through the borderlands, which are rich in heritage, culture and natural resources. These borderlands include the municipalities of the Eurocity Elvas-Badajoz-Campo Maior.
